Why is disinfecting contact lens cases so important?

1. A breeding ground for bacteria

The humid environment inside contact lens cases fosters the growth of bacteria (such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus) and pathogens such as amoebas, which can directly contaminate lenses and cause keratitis, conjunctivitis, and other conditions.
Research shows that over 50% of uncleaned contact lens cases may contain pathogenic microorganisms.

2. Avoiding re-contamination

Even if the lenses themselves are clean, dirty contact lens cases can allow bacteria to reattach during storage, leading to the risk of infection.

3. Preventing serious complications

For example, amoebic keratitis (strongly associated with contact lens case contamination) is difficult to treat and can cause permanent vision damage.

Slightly acidic electrolyzed water disinfectant, produced by Chlory's hypochlorous acid generator, is a highly effective and safe disinfectant with a bactericidal effect 80-100 times greater than 84 disinfectant. Its high redox potential and low pH destroy the microenvironment that pathogens rely on in 30 seconds or less, depriving them of the necessary conditions for survival and proliferation, leading to their death. Furthermore, the low-concentration hypochlorous acid molecules in slightly acidic electrolyzed water disinfectant can penetrate microbial cells, disrupting the function of cellular metabolic enzymes, causing them to swell, rupture, and die, thereby rapidly killing them. Clinical trials have shown that slightly acidic electrolyzed water disinfectant offers broad-spectrum sterilization, is convenient, low-cost, non-toxic when taken orally, non-toxic when inhaled, and non-teratogenic and non-carcinogenic. It is highly effective for hand hygiene and is suitable for disinfecting public places such as hospitals, schools, the military, airports, hotels, train stations, enterprises, and institutions.

Why is slightly acidic electrolyzed water a potential disinfectant for contact lens cases?

1. Broad-spectrum sterilization and efficient pathogen inactivation

Slightly acidic electrolyzed water, primarily composed of hypochlorous acid, has significant oxidizing power, rapidly penetrating microbial cell membranes and destroying protein and nucleic acid structures. Studies have shown that it has a potent bactericidal effect against bacteria, fungi (such as Candida albicans), and amoebas, with a sterilization rate exceeding 99.9% and a short duration of action.

2. Highly safe, with no irritating residue.

Compared to traditional chlorine-based disinfectants, slightly acidic electrolyzed water decomposes into water and trace amounts of sodium chloride after sterilization, leaving no toxic byproducts (such as trihalomethanes). Its pH is close to that of tear fluid, making it non-irritating to eye tissues. Even small amounts of residual water will not damage the cornea or conjunctiva, making it suitable for long-term use.

3. Avoids drug resistance and offers excellent stability.

Preservatives in chemical care solutions (such as polyquaternium salts) can induce microbial resistance, while electrolyzed water sterilizes through physical oxidation, making it less likely to develop resistant strains. Furthermore, modern preparation techniques enhance its stability, allowing it to maintain an effective chlorine concentration for over seven days in a sealed, light-proof environment, meeting daily use requirements.

4. Environmentally friendly and economical.

Electrolyzed water can be prepared on-site through the electrolysis of salt, reducing plastic packaging waste. Its per-use cost is lower than commercial disinfectants, making it particularly suitable for medical institutions or frequent users.

5. Convenient operation and compatible with various materials.

Slightly acidic electrolyzed water is non-corrosive to materials like silicone and plastic cases. It can be directly disinfected by immersion or spraying, eliminating the need for rinsing, simplifying care.
